Kansas Cooperative Roots More Than a Century Deep
July 17, 1916: The Day Farm Credit Began
More than 100 years ago, Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Farm Loan Act and Farm Credit was born. Shortly after, the first Farm Credit loan was made to A.L. Stockwell in Larned, Kansas.
Today, High Plains Farm Credit is proud to include that historic site in our territory as we continue to devote our cooperative to agricultural financing. We’re a team of more than 90 employees, serving over 4,100 farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses with $2.1 billion in loan volume.
